Samsung has announced the integration of popular music identifying app, Shazam, into all 2017 TV’s via the most recent update to its Smart Hub TV platform.
The integration will make it easier for users to identify the song playing through their TV without having to pull out their phone and use the Shazam app.
Shazam will be able to identify songs playing on both live TV and those playing through HDMI connections as Blu-ray players and other streaming devices.
To utilise the feature consumers can use the voice function of Samsung TV’s remote and ask “What song is this?”. Alternatively, consumers can simply select the Shazam icon in Smart Hub, which will pull up the details of the song playing at that point in time.
Shazam Chief Product Officer, Fabio Santini, says of the partnership:
“We are excited to integrate Shazam’s functionality with another medium that’s enjoyed by so many people around the world. Smart TVs felt like a natural evolution for the Shazam experience, and Samsung has always been a leading innovator in the space. We can’t wait for viewers and Shazam users alike to try this new feature.”
