Samsung says it provides choice but in reality several phone vendors have to stay with sliders and scroll buttons because Apple now owns several patents relating to touch functions in mobile phones.
Samsung say that the dual form-factor provides consumers with the ultimate choice.
Tyler McGee, Vice President of Telecommunications, Samsung Australia said, “Introducing the new Samsung UltraTOUCH gives us the opportunity to build on the popularity and huge success that Samsung and our customers have enjoyed with previous touch phones including the OMNIA and F480. The dual form factor gives consumer’s the best of both worlds and the design will ensure it’s your best looking accessory.”
The ultra-slim 13mm UltraTOUCH has red contoured lines on the front, and a polished black keyboard and brushed metal frame that Samsung believes will appeal to both men and women.
The full-touch and slide-out keypad is complemented by a large 2.8″, AMOLED touch screen which Samsung claims will result in movies and photos being displayed in more vibrant colours with better contrast, higher definition and deeper blacks.
Consumers will enjoy the ability to control and customise their mobile easily and intuitively – flicking through photos, navigating through maps and surfing the web has never been easier thanks to the upgraded user interface.

The UltraTOUCH has anembedded 8 megapixel camera with dual power LED flash and smile shot mode means you can capture quality photographs on your phone.
Geo-tagging then lets you to tag photos with geographic information, making them easier to use on social networking and photo sharing sites like Flickr and Twitter.
Making life that little bit easier are features such as Find Music and Fake Call. With Find Music you can easily identify your favourite tracks – record a 10 second clip of the song, send it to the music recognition server and get the title and artist information returned within seconds. Fake Call helps you get out of awkward situations by simulating a phone call and playing back a pre-recorded voice message when answered so as to not give you away.
Powered with HSDPA 7.2Mbps the UltraTOUCH also offers high speed internet access. This experience is further enhanced thanks to web auto rotation which automatically changes between landscape and portrait mode when you rotate the phone so that you can optimise webpages on the large screen. When you play videos auto rotation is also available meaning you can watch videos in widescreen.
