Samsung will reportedly be the main supplier of processors for Apple’s next iPhone.Samsung will be responsible for around 75 per cent of chip production, Reuters has reported, citing The Maeil Business Newspaper.
The South Korean newspaper did not say how much the contract is valued at, Reuters reported, with Samsung to make the chips from its factory in Austin, Texas.
While Apple and Samsung have been involved in ongoing legal disputes over alleged patent infringement, Samsung continues to remain a supplier of processors for Apple, although speculation persists about new partners.
The newspaper did not say what other company will be supplying Apple, Reuters reported.
The news comes following recent reports Samsung will use its own line of processors in its next flagship Galaxy S6 smartphone, having dropped the use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 processor due to overheating issues.
