Some parts of Samsung’s new solar-powered mobile phone are made from recycled plastic bottles and is claimed to contain zero toxic chemicals.Called the Blue Earth phone, the new device has a solar back panel that can take up to 14 hours to charge, to offer only four hours of call time. However, it does have a charger, so users can user the solar power to extend talk time.
Potential toxins in some phones, such as brominated flame retardants, beryllium and phthalates, are not in their new offering, claims Samsung.
Additionally, screen brightness is claimed to be easy to set, users can adjust backlight duration, and there is an energy-efficient Bluetooth mode.
For fitness fanatics there is a built-in pedometer that counts the user’s steps and calculates the amount of CO2 emissions the person is saving due to walking instead of driving.
