A recently published patent has revealed Samsung is developing a new wireless car charger, with many market commentators speculating whether the device is an accessory for its recently unveiled Galaxy S9 phone.
LetsGoDigital first noticed the patent application which was first submitted to WIPO in July 2017, and approved in February 2018.
As wireless charging generates heat – and risks damage to a phone – Samsung’s new wireless car charger integrates a cooling fan with air circulation technology.
The WIPO patent details a wireless charging vehicle dock, similarly designed to its existing S Charger released several years ago.
The new cooling system will feature on the rear of the accessory. Unfortunately, further details about the product’s functionality have not been disclosed.
The news follows several online leaks detailing product accessories for Samsung’s new S9 smartphone – including a Hyperknit cover and ultra-fast ‘Dex Pad’ wireless charging pad.
