The newly released 4.8″ Android smartie went on sale in May, and is hailed as the top smartphone in the world with its breakthrough AMOLED screen (same res as a HDTV), ultra fast 1.4GHz Quad Core processor, and the one Apple iPhone 5 will have to beat.
Samsung previously predicted sales of the Galaxy S3 would hit 10 million by July but now it seems the actual figures have exceed this:
“It appears that it (accumulated sales) has exceeded 10 million units,” said Samsung’s mobile communications J.K. Shin, reports AP.
Samsung’s recently estimated operating profit for April-June quarter had jumped a massive 79% to 6.7 trillion won (A$5.7 billion) compared to the same time a year ago, which it attributed to its exploding mobile division and line of Galaxy models.
The Korean maker is currently the No. 1 mobile phone maker globally, knocking former darling Nokia off its perch.
This profit figure if realised also marks a 14.5 percent rise over the previous record quarterly profit in January-March.
The S3 also has other technology innovations including a front facing camera which recognises the user’s eyes and makes sure the screen stays on and Samsung’s voice assistant technology, S-Voice command.
It also boasts an 8MP camera and a revolutionary connectivity suite, including Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi channel bonding and DLNA technology.
