Samsung has announced its new Bixby-powered smart speaker, the Galaxy Home Mini, and is currently inviting its South Korean smartphone users to beta-test the new device.
First spotted on SamMobile, the announcement marks the official confirmation that Samsung is releasing a smaller smart speaker device, though the industry had been expecting it since FCC filings were recently leaked.
According to Samsung, the new speakers have the ability to control IoT devices, can integrate with Samsung’s SmartThings platform, and uses sound technology provided by Samsung’s AKG audio brand.
Those interested are now able to sign up for the beta (until September 1), with around 3,000 winners being announced on September 4.
No confirmation yet on exact details of launch, availability and pricing, though expectations are for some time in 2020 or beyond.
