The first images of the Samsung Galaxy S8 have leaked, featuring a curved display and reduced bezels due to the lack of a home button. After Samsung broke from tradition by not launching its latest flagship device at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, BGR obtained leaked photos of the upcoming Galaxy S8 and VentureBeat reporter Evan Blass leaked the first press render of the smartphone.
The photos obtained by BGR depict the smaller variant of the Galaxy S8 with a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display, compared to the Galaxy S8+ which is expected to feature an increased 6.2-inch display.
Like the Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy Note 7 released last year, the display of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ curves at the sides of the phone, and also features a curved glass back. Due to the lack of a home button on the front, the fingerprint scanner has been moved to the back.
Despite earlier rumours indicating Samsung may remove the headphone jack, the bottom of the Galaxy S8 leak depicts a standard 3.5mm headphone jack alongside a USB-C port.
Previous leaks have indicated the Galaxy S8 will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Samsung’s Exynos depending on region, which are reportedly 11% faster and 20% more energy efficient than the Galaxy S7.
Samsung will officially announce the Galaxy S8 in New York on March 29 (March 30 in Australia).
