Samsung is getting into the health business with a sports top that identify diseases in your body and then transmit information to a smartphone.
The technology is based around sensors woven into the sports shirt and when operational it can deliver information on lung functions by detecting sound from the organs and providing diagnosis and advice according to LetsGoDigital.
Other capabilities include being able to diagnose respiratory diseases by measuring the strength of ones breath as you exercise or walk.
The sensors connect to the smartphone, so the user can read the diagnosis, relating to problems such as ‘pneumonia symptoms’ or ‘respiratory infection’ on the screen.
The technology can also identify the presence of bronchitis, and chronic lung diseases such as asthma and COPD are recognised.
According to a patent filed with the World Intellectual Property Organisation, the technology takes your health history into account along with your Body Mass Index.
To get the correct diagnosis, the user’s age, gender, weight and height are considered along with their medical history.
Based on the result, advice is then given, varying from preventive to emergency measures.
Last year Samsung tested introduced a smart ice-skating suit which a Dutch short tracker used to train for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.
Last month the Korean Company introduced smart shoes, which gives athletes real-time feedback on their training performance.
The sensors can also be integrated into other types of clothing. It is not known when the smart clothing range will be on the market to the general public.
A spokesperson said ‘Consider, for example, a professional footballer who is on the sports field, where the lung function can be monitored in real time,’
‘Or with for a sick baby or child this technological solution can offer a solution.’
‘If you can easily make a long scan at home, that is of course a big win. Obviously, the smart shirt must be made a size smaller for this group of users.’
