According to the company, the NaviBot is capable of moving in complete autonomy over multiple surfaces in the home including carpets, rugs, wooden floors and tiles. The vacuum maps the layout of your home for automatic vacuuming and is fitted with a camera that takes 30 photos every second to help it identify the areas it needs to cover.
It is capable of cleaning up to 100 square metres of floor in just 40 minutes, while its 38 in-built sensors allow it to negotiate obstacles, such as table legs and sofas and prevent it from tumbling down stairs. In addition, the NaviBot has a Virtual Fence mode allows you to screen off areas of the home that you don’t want cleaned and a Virtual Guard mode that allows you to direct the Samsung NaviBot from room to room according to your preferred order.
Brushes on either side of the robot are designed to clean right to the edges of a room and roll over surfaces such as thick rugs and carpets. The nifty Samsung NaviBot also comes equipped with three anti-tangle sensors that automatically unwind any cords and carpet tassels it encounters, and if it is picked up, or in the unlikely event it topples over, its Auto-Stop function immediately shuts it down for your safety.
“The Samsung NaviBot even makes its way back to its docking station to recharge when it runs low on power. Once it’s recuperated, the vacuum cleaner’s sophisticated memory will retrace its steps and continue cleaning where it left off,” said the company.
Samsung Australia’s Head of Marketing, Consumer Elecronics, Mark Leathan said, “In line with Samsung’s ongoing commitment to providing tomorrow’s technologies today, the Samsung NaviBot brings to the Australian home an innovative, new, smarter way to clean. The Samsung NaviBot injects intelligence and fun into an essential, but somewhat cumbersome, domestic chore.”
The Samsung NaviBot will be available from this month with the following RRPs: R8845 (Neutral Grey) $799; SR8855 (Mirror Blue) $999. The top-of-the-range SR8855 includes two virtual guards, a Daily Schedule cleaning mode, extra brush accessories and a touch screen control panel on the robot.
