This week, Samsung is believed to be rolling out a branded store-in-store within several Dick Smith outlets in OZ.
Samsung has just posted an ad on the Seek website for ‘Brand Ambassadors’ to flog Samsung gear from a branded point of sale at Dick Smith stores in the Sydney CBD, Inner West & Eastern Suburbs.
The ‘Brand Ambassadors are being hired “to actively promote, demonstrate and sell Samsung-branded product across AV, IT and Telco within your assigned Dick Smith store,” according to the ad, uncovered by industry website Current.
The Samsung Brand Ambassador will be “responsible for maintaining all Samsung displays and Point Of Sale, ensuring the technology is working every day and the latest products are on display”.
The part-time role is paying $20 an hour, plus 20% commission on sales.
“As a part-time Samsung Brand Ambassador, you will be empowered with directly showing Dick Smith customers, during peak trading hours the amazing impact Samsung products can have on their day-to-day lives.”
“You will ideally become the benchmark for all other ambassadors, in a role which will see you hand over the final sale at the register.”
The Samsung brand concept in Dick Smith store is billed as “an exciting NEW project between two big brands in Australian consumer electronics retail.”
This move is the latest in the electronics giant’s retail strategy – it opened the first Samsung store in Sydney’s George St last year and also opened one this year in Melbourne CBD.
Neither Samsung nor Dick Smith were available for comment.
Microsoft are also doing something similar in the US in Best Buy stores, as are Google, which is looking to push its Chrome OS.
