Samsung has unleashed a DivX-certified mobile phone with exceptional video and multimedia capabilities – the F500 offers a built-in audio player and boasts “DVD-like” quality picture and sound, according to the company.
Samsung partnered with DivX in South East Asia to provide DivX Pro as an included PC software package for Samsung Mobile’s Ultra Video mobile phones, with the F500 as the first in the range to be DivX-certified.

The software that comes with the Samsung F500 includes a DivX converter CD that once installed on a computer allows users to convert any file to DivX format.
“High video quality should not just be limited to large TV screens. The Ultra Video highlights our passion to leverage our multimedia capabilities to satisfy consumers’ leisure and entertainment needs,” said Samsung Mobile marketing manager, Jenny Goodridge.
“We have advanced from a product provider to a total solution provider through our partnership with DivX. Samsung will continue to be strong in mobile phones with premier technologies, innovative products and strategic marketing tie ups to enhance the lifestyles of our customers.”
The Samsung F500 features a unique dual-face LCD screen, with a phone on one side and a 2.4-inch screen for multimedia viewing on the other. The 2.4 inch screen offers 240×320 pixels in 262,000 colours that can display video in landscape mode.
The handset also has a swivel design that allows for an adjustable viewing angle or serves as a stand to be placed on a flat surface.
Other features include an internal memory of 350MB and expandable memory up to 2GB with microSD card, HSDPA for fast broadband speeds, a 2.0 megapixel camera and Bluetooth.
