Korean tech giants LG and Samsung will reportedly use Mobile World Congress (MWC) to showcase their first 5G-enabled smartphones in February 2019, ahead of a rumoured launch in March.
The Korea Herald has confirmed previous reports, asserting Samsung will reveal its tenth anniversary Galaxy S smartphones at MWC, including a 5G-enabled model.
According to renowned tech commentator, Evan Blass, the new Galasy S10 series will encompass a base 5.8-inch and 6.1-inch model, with a larger 6.4-inch Galaxy S10+.

Despite mounting rumours – including talk the S10 will feature a digital wallet to store and trade cryptocurrency – Samsung is yet to provide official confirmation.
Fellow Korean rival, LG, will reportedly also unveil a 5G-enabled smartphone at MWC – the device is tipped to be an upgraded version of its G7 ThinQ, featuring a Qualcomm 5G chipset.
At Mobile World Congress 2018, LG debuted its updated V30 smartphone – the V30S ThinQ – leading some commentators to question whether the 5G device will accompany a new name.
Speaking to the The Korea Herald an LG official claims the company will use 5G technology to turnaround its mobile business by 2020.
LG will reportedly release its 5G phones in May, starting in Korea and the United States.
Reports suggest a change in the company’s mobile leadership has shift its smartphone strategy, to be amidst the first-movers of 5G technology, rather than lag behind.
