Samsung is set to release two new notebooks in early August, the 300V and 305V, sporting the latest components on show from AMD after a press event today.
Samsung has been pushing the style side of its laptops, with its recent Series 9 notebooks taking out a design award at the 2011 Australian International Design Awards.
It’s continuing the tradition with its new Series 3 notebook range additions, the 300V and 305V, with each sporting thin bezels framing their screens for maximum display size.
They’re not ultra-thin models like the Series 9s, instead opting for a combination of fast processing, portability and style that will suit “social networkers or students” according to Samsung Australia’s head of IT, Emmanuele Silanesu. Prices starting at $599 up to a little over a thousand also tip it to the student demographic.
Samsung has given consumers a choice between AMD and Intel with the new Series 3s. Either go wholly Intel with the 300V, or go the AMD direction with the 305V. Consumers can choose between Nvidia and Intel graphics on the 300V, but otherwise there’s no mix on the two counterparts.
The 300V is a 13.3 inch notebook powered by an Intel Core i5 processor running at 2.3 GHz alongside either an Intel or Nvidia graphics card. It otherwise features 4GB of DDR3 RAM, Blu-ray drive and a 640GB hard drive spinning at 5400 rpm. The 300V sits at $1,299.
The AMD-fitted 15.6 inch 305V comes in four separate models, ranging from dual-core to quad-core processors and a host of other internal upgrades like memory, storage and GPU upgrades. The 305V houses the all new AMD Fusion APU processor.
The top model features AMD’s latest quad-core A8-3510MX Accelerated Processor that runs at 1.8 GHz, 8GB worth of DDR3 RAM, a 750GB hard drive running at 5400rpm, an AMD Radeon HD6 640G2 Dual Graphics card and a Blu-ray drive.
Connectivity is ubiquitous to the selection with all models including Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, three USB 2.0 ports, 3-in-1 memory card readers and HDMI.
The 305V starts at $599, moving on to $749, $999 and $1,199.
