Reports out of ETNews claim that Samsung will be unveiling a new pair of smart wireless earbuds at its upcoming Note 8 reveal event on the 23rd of August.
The report say the new earbuds will be positioned as competitors to Apple’s AirPods and come optimised for use by small businesses. More specifically, they’ll come designed to integrate with Samsung’s Bixby voice companion.
The new earbuds are said to feature enhanced noise-cancelling technology designed to make using Bixby more reliable and intuitive. Given the early feedback during the voice assistant’s beta test highlighted issues with accuracy, this is likely a good thing.
With a dedicated Bixby smart speakers said to be in the works for Samsung, it has been speculated that these new earbuds will act as a stopgap for customers.
Essentially, it’ll allow Samsung to get help accelerate the adoption of the voice assistant and introduce them to it in order to make upselling them to the dedicated speaker an easier task.
Last year, Samsung launched its IconX Wireless Earbuds alongside the Note 7.
It’s expected that these new earbuds will replace the IconX in Samsung’s line-up. However, it’s unknown whether they’ll come bundled with the Note 8 or ranged alongside it.
