Samsung have unveiled a new flip phone with the type of specs usually found on high-end flagship smartphones.
Limited to the Chinese market at least initially, the Leader 8 features the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor as the Google Pixel and HTC U Ultra, as well as 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.
Instead of just one display on the inside of the flip phone, Samsung have incorporated an additional display on the outside to allow users to quickly view the clock, calendar and other information. Both displays are 4.2-inch Super AMOLED with Full HD resolution.
The Leader 8 also features a 12-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera, and wireless charging for its 2,300mAh battery. Additional features include a fingerprint reader on the back of the device, and support for S Voice and Samsung Pay.
Inside the phone itself, you’ll find the typical flip phone keypad and buttons, as well as a customisable hot-key.
Pricing for the Leader 8’s Chinese release has not been announced.
