Advanced Local Dimming is claimed to cut energy usage by up to 50 percent, with the reduction a product of optimised operation and efficiencies of the components, which the company refused to go into.

The second panel utilises 3-Way Dimming technology, whichuses RGB LEDs. Unlike white LEDs, RGB LEDs helps enhance light efficiency while reproducing colours on screen. For example, a 46-inch full HD panel that uses white LEDs consumes 188 Watts of power while one that uses RGB LEDs consumes 80 Watts. The average difference in consumption seems to be around 50 percent.

Samsung demonstrated the latter technology at the show by showing 50-Watt consumption on a 47-inch TV while conventional technologies use 169 Watts for a panel of the same size.
