Mark Leathan, Head of Marketing, Consumer Electronics, Samsung Australia, said, “2009 has been an incredibly strong growth year for Samsung Home Appliances. We are constantly working to develop innovative and unique technologies to make consumers’ lives easier. It has been the success of Samsung’s unique SPACE technology, and the developing strength of the French door fridge category that has really helped to cement our leadership position in the SBS segment.”
Samsung’s SPACE technology was developed following in-house research that found consumers’ primary concern when buying a fridge was having the largest amount of inside space in the smallest footprint. The SPACE technology reduces the thickness of the refrigerator walls without compromising on cooling performance, giving users 100 litres more space inside than the footprint on the outside.
2010 will see Samsung continuing its focus and growth in the French door category, which has also proved to be an Australian favourite since its launch in 2009. By eliminating the centre divider, the French door fridge provides bigger, wider storage than a conventional SBS, making it ideal for large Australian households.
