The new Samsung retail store hitting Sydney George St – just doors way from the Apple Store – is due to be opened very soon, a company exec told Channel News.
Samsung would not be tied down to a precise date but did say an announcement on the store will be made next week, meaning it could be open by the end of August/September.
The “date is not confirmed yet but we’ll be making an announcement about opening day next week at some point,” the spokesperson confirmed.
No word on what exactly the Samsung concept store will sell but it is likely to stock all of the Korean maker’s gear – from Galaxy smartphones, to tablets and phablets (like the Note), and possibly even TV and audio.
The store address at 450 George St is right beside Myer, just up from the Apple Store on 367 George street and is also close to Dick Smith and JB Hi-Fi stores in Sydney’s CBD.
Sydney appears to be the only location currently on Samsung’s radar in OZ but if it goes according to plan, Samsung’s retail empire could stretch to other major capital cities.
Samsung opened a temporary pop up store in Sydney at 379/380 George St, Sydney last October to promote the launch of its Music Hub, and handily just as the iPhone 4S was launched down the street, at the Apple Store.
In other Samsung news, the company are set to reveal the Galaxy Note 2 next week.
