As several manufacturers get set to launch new Google Android based smartphones, it has emerged that Samsung is set to drop Windows Mobile in favour of the Android operating system.

Around the world  Google Android devices are starting to flood the market with both traditional phone makers like Motorola and HTC as well as PC makers like Acer and Dell looking to launch new Android based offerings.

Analysts in Korea are claiming that  Samsung is among the major phone Companies who are moving towards using Android. According to analyst Greg Noh from HMC Investment Securities Samsung will move from 80% Windows Mobile usage to 50% in 2010.

That percentage is said to be decreased further in coming years until only 20% of Samsung’s devices use Windows Mobile by 2012. The move is seen as a signal by some that more and more handset makers are moving away from Windows Mobile towards Google’s open source Android OS.
