I have just arrived at the CES Expo in Las Vegas and already the leaks game has started with Samsung executives telling me that they will be launching a new HD TV that is less than 6.5cm thick and 2cm thinner than what the Company revealed at last year’s CES show.

The Korean Company is also out to spruik 3D alongside companies such as Panasonic LG and Texas Instruments who will also show off TV technology capable of displaying 3-D-like pictures. The industry is billing it as the next big leap in TV technology.
The idea of bringing 3-D to screens in the home is making a comeback after failed attempts, in the 1950s and then again in the 1970s. Hoping the third time will be the charm, manufacturers are making a concerted push this year to promote 3-D TV as the best way to enjoy live sporting events and action films.
Despite this being early days at CES Samsung claims that that it has developed the “world’s thinnest” TV and that the Company will unveil several ultra slim HDTVs at CES including a 42″ OLED TV.
The new models will incorporate Samsung’s Motion plus technology (200Hz) and Samsung’s LED backlight technology; however, Samsung’s newest model does not have a built-in tuner or receiver according to Electronista instead models will come with a separate external tuner device.
