Samsung Electronics is planning to unleash an array of new mobile devices, including three foldable smartphones, according to insiders.
Samsung will be holding a Galaxy Unpacked event on August 11, which will be livestreamed from Seoul. The official event invitations are yet to go out but a leaked version includes the tagline: “The future will unfold in a new way. Very soon”
The company is expected to introduce a Galaxy Z Fold3 model and a Galaxy Z Flip3 at the launch.
The Galaxy Fold3 is expected to retail for around $AUD2300, with the Flip3 around $1,500.
As Korea Herald notes, these price points are 17 per cent and 22 per cent lower than last year’s predecessors, respectively.
By lowering the prices, Samsung appears to be targeting existing Galaxy Note users looking for an upgrade, as well as potential iPhone 13 customers.
Samsung also raised the target shipment of foldable models from 6 million to 7 million units.
Last year it only produced 2.2 million units.
Numerous leaks suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will have a 7.55-inch internal foldable OLED screen and a 6.23-inch cover display, with five cameras – including three 12MP lenses, a 16MP under-display for selfies, and a 10MP cover display camera.
