Samsung is set to take on the Cisco Flip camera with the launch of a FullHD pocket camcorder and a Wi-Fi-enabled point-and-shoot digital camera.
The new Samsung HMX-E10 can be charged via the USB similar to the Cisco Flip camera that is struggling to get traction in Australia according to GFK data.
The new HMX-E10 features a 270-degree swiveling lens and, in pocket-camcorder fashion, a built-in USB port function that also charges its battery. An onscreen “upload” button is designed to link directly to such content-sharing sites as YouTube.
Other specs include a 1/3.2-inch CMOS sensor, 1,920 by 1,080 FullHD video (30p/H.264) capture, 8-megapixel still image capture and a 2.7-inch touchscreen LCD. According to Samsung, the LCD divides into two sections when recording video, with the top section showing a live view and the bottom showing a series of touchscreen controls.
The HMX-E10 comes in ivory and black and will be available in September for around $249.
