Samsung finally rolled out the pitch for their AI-driven voice assistant Bixby.
The company say that “Bixby was created to provide a more personalized experience to enhance the way people interact with their phones and the world around them. Bixby is not an ordinary voice assistant, but rather an intuitive and comprehensive interface that leverages contextual awareness to learn users’ habits and respond accordingly.”
Like Alexa or Siri, users can activate Bixby by calling out its name and then issuing instructions from there.
Like HTC’s recent U Ultra, Bixby will leverage data-gathered by the user’s habits alongside that of the device’s sensors. It’ll be able to interact with images seen through the S8’s camera and learn from the user’s calender and offer intelligent reminders.
The company have summarized everything Bixby will offer in the infographic below:
They also talked up the integration that Bixby will offer with Samsung’s new Samsung Connect app and Samsung Connect Home router.
The former is an application that allows users to easily activate IoT-enabled devices through a quick three-step configuration process and manage all connected devices through one integrated app. The latter is a mesh-based router that Samsung will offer designed to streamline and support your smart home setup.
Bixby will roll out as part of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphone on April 28th.
