Samsung has taken the wraps off a new wearable, its Charm fitness band, designed for use with compatible smartphones. The Charm, which sports “a sleek design and looks more like a piece of jewellery than an electronic device”, keeps track of steps taken throughout the course of day, and also notifies of incoming calls, texts and social media updates via LED notifications.
It works in conjunction with the Samsung S Health app, allowing users to track information such as how much distance they’ve covered throughout the day and how many calories they’ve burned, with the Charm still monitoring when not paired with a smartphone.
Colour-coded notifications provide information about charging, connectivity status and battery level.
A rechargeable, built-in 17 mAh battery provides up to 14 days use on a single charge, with the Charm also coming with an included Pogo pin charging cradle.
The Charm is compatible with smartphones running on Android 4.4 or subsequent versions, as well as with S Health 4.6 or subsequent versions.
Having been launched in Korea, Italy, France and Russia, Samsung states that the Charm, available in gold, black and rose quartz, will soon be released in select markets.
