Samsung’s “dork like” virtual headset that works with the new Note 4 could be in OZ stores by Xmas.
Harvey Norman executives attending the IFA show in Berlin
where the Galaxy Gear VR headset have been told that the device will retail for
around $239.
The device that works with the new Galaxy Note 4 uses the
Note 4 display to enhance the image into the headset.
The VR images are provided by a 5.7-inch Quad HD super
AMOLED running at 2560×1440, coupled with a 60 frame-per-second pass-through
camera for augmented reality applications.
Earphones are required for 3d spatial sound on the Samsung
VR player.
The device is in an early-access stage and not ready for
mass marketing, and should be considered in “beta” status however a
retail on-sale model is tipped for Xmas trading in limited numbers.
Telstra executives have said that the new Galaxy Note 4
could be offered with a combined headset contract.
