Competition between Apple and Samsung is expected to intensify as Samsung readies an iPad Mini rival.SamMobile has confirmed the specifications of Samsung’s next tablet, the Galaxy Note 8.0.
It is expected to feature an 8 inch 1,280×800 display, a 5MP rear camera, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, 2GB of RAM and 16/32GB of internal memory, with the option of inserting a MicroSD memory card.
The 8 inch tablet will be 7.95mm thin, weigh a breezy 330 grams and is expected to carry an inexpensive price tag.
Interestingly the report, which cites anonymous sources, doesn’t include processor details.
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10.1
Best of all, its ‘Note’ moniker indicates Samsung’s S-Pen stylus will be on board. The S-Pen is capable of recognising more than 1,000 different levels of pressure and, as a result, the pictures you draw retain the same sense of shading, line thickness and precision found from an old school pencil. Samsung cleverly include a suite of applications geared to take advantage of the Note’s stylus.
It might not sound like much, but the S-Pen’s supreme functionality sets Samsung’s Note products apart from the myriad of Android me-too wannabes and puts Samsung in clear contention with Apple’s tablets.
Two versions of the Note 8.0 will be manufactured, a WiFi only and a WiFi+3G variant, and its official unveiling is expected to take place at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, scheduled to commence on the 25th of February.
