With SanDisk’s new Ultra Fit USB 3.0 drive is ultra small, ultra fast and ultra affordable, taking up ever less space is still the final frontier.
USB sticks are often annoyingly large, meaning they can’t be left in when you put your notebook or ultrabook away, with most still using the slow USB 2.0 standard.
While USB 3.0 has eliminated the speed problem, ever smaller USB “thumb drives” and now appearing in sizes not much bigger than a thumb nail, which is a welcome improvement.

Now comes SanDisk’s Ultra Fit USB 3.0 drive, promising “exceptional performance in a tiny form factor, while providing expanded storage for PCs and other devices”, letting you transfer “a full-length movie in 40 seconds” thanks to transfer speeds up to ten times faster than standard USB 2.0 drives.
George Saad, SanDisk’s A/NZ Country Manager said: “As a leader in the flash storage space, our goal has always been to deliver the best, most reliable products. While there are other USB 3.0 products on the market, SanDisk’s Ultra Fit USB 3.0 Flash Drive offers consumers superior performance and impressive capacity in an extremely compact design.”
Building upon SanDisk’s popular Cruzer Fit line, the Fit 3.0 has “an updated, modern design”, and is billed as “an ideal companion for notebooks, tablets, TVs, gaming consoles, car audio systems, and more”.
Coming in capacities of 16, 32 and 64GB, the larger two sizes have write speeds 10 times faster than regular USB 2.0 drives, while the 16GB model has write speeds 5 times faster, as well as SanDisk’s “SecureAccess software to keep private files safe with password protection and 128-bit encryption”, along with “a year’s subscription to RescuePRO software to recover lost or corrupted files.”
Priced at $16.95 for 16GB, $31.95 for 32GB and $61.95 for 64GB, they’re all available in retail stores now, with each sporting a 5 year warranty.
