Sanyo announced that it will take the role of major campaign partner to Team GWS, the first AFL team for Greater Western Sydney.According to Sanyo, it will sponsor team GWS in the 18 months prior to the club’s entry to the AFL and the SANYO brand will take pride of place at all key club events including the announcement of playing and coaching personnel, and all venue announcements.
Sanyo Oceania’s President and Managing Director, Bill Crichton said, “SANYO is committed to making a positive contribution to the Australian community and we are proud to be able to announce this new partnership with Team GWS. Along with our ongoing commitment to Panthers, SANYO’s brand in the Western Sydney region will strengthen beyond both codes.”
Team GWS Chief Executive Office, Dale Holmes, said that this partnership was another important step in the establishment of the AFL’s 18th Club.

Sanyo has been a long time supporter of the communities of Greater Western Sydney and we look forward to working together to strengthening that support over the coming 18 months,” said Holmes.
“Team GWS has made incredible gains in a short time. In just the last three weeks we have signed six of the top young footballers from our recruiting zone as well as NRL star Israel Folau, we have secured funding for the redevelopment at the Sydney Showgrounds to showcase our home matches from 2012 and now SANYO has committed to supporting Team GWS. These are all critical announcements as we work to build this football club.”
