EXCLUSIVE: The man credited with turning around LG Australia’s TV business has quit.Tim Barnes, who joined LG from LG Canada, is set to return to Canada to take up a new role outside of LG.
Barnes was the Marketing Manager of home entertainment and recently took on a new role as strategic business development manager at LG Australia.
Under Barnes LG was able to lift their share of the TV market using controversial TV marketing for their passive Cinema 3D technology.
The strategy resulted in Samsung heading to the Federal Court to seek an injunction to stop the commercials going to air in Australia claiming that they were misleading and deceptive.
The orders being sort by Samsung were rejected. Since then Samsung has taken further action against LG with a new hearing set down for next month.
In recent months LG Electronics Australia has seen several senior people exit the Company. William Cho, the former President and CEO of LG Canada, quit after just 12 months to take on a senior management role at LG in Korea.
Mid last year Nick Gibson, the former Marketing Manager who was brought in to replace the sacked David Brand, quit after only 10 months.
