Sharp world first THX certified 4K 2K Ultra HD LCD TV has landed.
Sharp’s 70″ LCD TV has Real Ultra High Definition (3840 x 2160) TV Panel with a built in converter to upscale from Full HD to 4K Ultra HD, handy since there’s a dearth of 4K content at the moment.
Ultra High Def TV or ‘4K’ as it is known, has four times the resolution of a full HD TV.
THX has only recently began certifying 4K HDTVs, and the Sharp TV has gone though 400 rigorous performance tests. It is the only 4K TV to get the THX nod.

The TV has a high quality Japanese-made panel, Edge LED backlighting and AquoMotion UHD – this reduces motion blur and delivers crystal-clear images during motion scenes.
It also has 3D and 2D surround sound, Sharp’s Duo BASS technology – incorporating two subwoofers into a sleek, streamlined front bezel.
The Internet ready TV has a Flash-enabled Web browser and a USB-REC function, and it directly records from digital broadcast plus replays content via a USB HDD.
The 70″ set measures 1578 x 950 x 114 mm without a stand and weighs 47.5kg without a stand.
But its not cheap at RRP$12,999, available through specialist channels from early December.
A Panasonic 65″ 4K TV with upscaler costs a lot less at $7,699, and 4K TV prices are continuing to drop.

The Sharp LC-70UD1X comes with two sets of 3D glasses and a wireless LAN Adaptor.
