Major reshuffle of Sharp management team, appointing new MD and Deputy MD.Last week, the tech giant unveiled company veteran Keiichi Katsuta as the new Managing Director of Sharp Australia. He will commence his role today.
Former MD, Masashi Uchiyama, is to return to Japan to take up a senior role within Sharp’s Energy Solution business, having held the top job in Australia for several years. Sharp say the move was in accordance with his wishes.
Sharp also appointed Joe Costantino, Sharp’s Director of Sales and Marketing, to the role of Deputy MD. Denis Kerr departed from the role in 2011. Costantino will assist Katsuta in heading up the business locally and taking Sharp forward.
“The company has decided to strengthen the local leadership and senior management team at Sharp by appointing Joe Costantino to the role of Deputy Managing Director,” a spokesperson told CN.
New boss Katsuta has plenty of experience in developing new businesses and is a key fixture in the Japanese-based company, which has taken a change in direction of late after reporting a net loss, last financial year.
He previously served as Deputy General Manager for Emerging Business in Japan, responsible for developing new business in Sharp’s overseas markets.
“With new technologies emerging, it is my aim to make sure the company delivers in every area to build on the brand legacy in Australia,” said Katsuta.
Sharp recently moved to selling its electronics via its online website in Australia, similar to Sony and Acer.
