Sharp Australia will take a look at the possibility of launching a new 3D Smartphone that allows games to be played without the need for glasses.
The Sharp Smartphone, that looks a lot like the iPhone, has a special display panel that allows content such as 3D movies and games to be viewed without the need for a seperate pair of 3D glasses.

In a statement issued last night in Japan, Sharp said that they have plans to take on Apple’s iPhone by the end of the year, with the international launch of their new Smartphone.
According to Mark Beard, Marketing Director at Sharp Australia, the future for Smarphones is applications that allow for gaming and entertainment content.
“At this stage we have no plans to move into the phone market, however we will take a look at this phone as it appears to have a lot of capability”.
Analysts are tipping that the new Sharp Smartphone could do well with retailers as opposed to carriers due to its 3D capability.
Sharp, who are not a big player in the Smartphone market, own patents on the new 3D display technology found in the new device.
Reuters said that a previous venture into the segment, the Kin model manufactured for Microsoft, flopped in the United States and was cancelled in June after less than three months.
Sharp unveiled its 3D panel technology, which is only suitable for small screens such as those on mobile phones and portable game consoles, in April.
Mobile electronics that let users view 3D images without special glasses have been around for some time, since people tend to look at the display from a fixed distance and angle on personal devices, making it technologically less difficult to offer a 3D function.
