The new channels are in addition to the seven channels already available on the T-Box and is the first time ever to be streamed via IPTV, said Andrew Lambert, Telstra General Manager of Content Acquisition.
“It’s the first time these channels will be streamed via IPTV and it brings the great deals and convenience of TVSN and Expo to more than 190,000 T-Box customers.”
The most popular categories on the Shopping Network are beauty, health, fashion, home & lifestyle for a mostly female audience.
But it also sells electronics goods like Toshiba Satellite Pro C660 (for $699) Nikon Coolpix P500 Digital Camera, Thermo Chef appliances and other kitchen equipment.
Set up in 1995, goods can be bought 24/7 from the home grown channel that has grown 15% in the past three years.
Expo channel, on the other hand, is a forum selling everything from exercise equipment to tools and cosmetics.
Both channels are already on Foxtel and Austar.
This latest score for T-Box comes as Telstra moved to expand sales of its T-Box personal video recorder by adding 30 Foxtel channels to its offering in June.
“In both rural and metropolitan areas over 90 per cent of our viewers are women, so it is no
wonder our most popular categories include beauty, health, fashion, home & lifestyle and jewellry,” says Nick Pigot, General Manager of Television for TVSN & Expo.
