Smart TV maker is extending its 3D Video-On-Demand service to Aussie users, it announced today.
The first ever free 3D VOD service unleashed to Korean audiences earlier this year, is hitting selected Samsung Smart TVs near you from 30 June.
Smart TV owners will be able to access the 3D VOD content at no cost by downloading the ‘Explore 3D’ application on Samsung Apps.
The full 3D content on offer will include movie trailers for Shrek 4, Megamind, Kung Fu Panda 2 and Crisis II, music videos, and children’s classics like Pinocchio, The Ugly Duckling, Aladdin, all “at the touch of a button.”
During its initial stages 30 3D movie clips will be made available, which Samsung says will increase to 100 by the end of the year.
Lifestyle titles will include Mercedes Benz Classic Collection, Takeoff-Macau, plus documentaries like Grand Canyon Adventure, Wild Ocean and Ultimate Wave Tahiti to name but a few.
This is thanks to Samsung’s collaboration with Dreamworks to provide video content.
Samsung who are currently #3 in the Australian market, launched its 22 new internet ready smart 3D TVs in April, which provides BigPond TV service with seven streamed channels including 24/7 news, sports and music videos , NRL Game Analyser 2011 as well as access to Facebook, Twitter and Skype.
However, getting Smart doesn’t come cheap and can set you back several thousand dollars.
“The launch of this free 3D VOD service adds to the variety of content already available and strengthens our commitment to Australian consumers in delivering the very best immersive entertainment experience,” says Brad Wright, AV Product Marketing Manager, Samsung.
