Nokia and Skype have announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that they have reached an agreement whereby Skype will be integrated into some Nokia handsets.Nokia says the first of its series to be integrated will be the N97 handset whereby Skype will be part of the address book of the unit. This will enable users to see when Skype contacts are online, as well as instant messaging.
Nokia N97 owners around the world will also be able to use 3G and WLAN to make and receive free Skype-to-Skype voice calls, in addition to low-cost Skype calls to landlines and mobile devices.
Access to a broadband Internet connection is required. Skype is not a replacement for your traditional telephone service and can not be used for emergency calling. Integration will be avaiable in the Q3 2009.
