Google’s Street View car is said to have lifted personal info while capturing images in Britain.
Google Street view is said to be doing more than just taking pictures of road and houses up and down the country.
It is now believed to have ‘harvested’ personal details from users laptops and PCs (including emails and Internet usage) in a bid to gain more knowledge about consumers web activities in Britain.
The “software designed by Google engineers to steal personal information was fitted to Street View vans specifically to capture emails and other data,” reports Daily Mail.
Google engineers first denied the problem although now say it was an error.
The UK’s Privacy Commissioner is promising a full investigation into the issue.
No word if this has occured in other countries, however.
