Telstra has confirmed that its chief Executive Sol Trujillo will leave the company on the 30th June, 2009.

Trujillo is said to return to the United States and his exit comes after he met yesterday with the board of Telstra.

Telstra chairman Donald McGauchie said. “Trujillo’s vision, strategic direction and commitment to execution has positioned Telstra as a media communications company with a wide range of options going forward.”

He added, “Under Sol’s leadership Telstra has significantly outperformed the market producing world leading results.”

The announcement came as Telstra announced a 3.7 increase in revenue and 3.2 percent increase in sales. Sales increased $392 million.

Telstra retail revenue grew by 4.1 percent. Wholesale revenue declined 4.1 percent. Mobile service revenue increased 12.4 percent however the outstanding performance was a 37 percent increase in mobile data revenue, with the bulk of this coming from SMS messaging.

Fixed broadband revenue increases 20 percent and IP access revenue grew 28 percent. Reported EBITDA rose 3.1 per cent to $5,332 million to December 2008.
