NASDAQ-listed audio equipment manufacturer, Sonos, has opened Australian pre-orders for its new architectural custom install speakers. The new in-ceiling and in-wall speakers will ship by February 26.
Also joining the custom install speakers is Sonos’ new Amp, which is available to purchase now for A$999.
The speakers are made in collaboration with Sonance, and are Sonos’ first foray into architectural speakers for custom installers.
“Our goal was to create a solution optimised for installers, bringing the Sonos experience to architectural speakers for the first time,” claims Patrick Spence, Sonos Chief Executive.
The versatile Amp pledges high-fidelity audio with 25 Watts per channel, and can power floor-standing, bookshelf, in-wall, in-ceiling and outdoor speakers.
Users can power up to three pairs of Sonos architectural speakers with a single Amp.
Consumers can also connect the Amp to their TV, complemented by support for Apple AirPlay.
The new custom install architectural in-wall speakers are sold as a pair, retailing for A$899.
With specially designed grilles, Sonos asserts the speakers can be painted to match the adjacent wall.
The new custom install architectural in-ceiling speakers will also sell for A$899 a pair.
In conjunction with the Amp, TruePlay technology pledges to automatically take into consideration room construction and furnishing for the best possible sound output.
Like the in-wall speakers, Sonos’ in-ceiling speakers have grilles which can be painted – ‘designed to disappear.’
Listed on its website as ‘Coming soon’, Sonos’ architectural outdoor speakers will be sold as a pair for A$1,199.
With a weatherproof design, the speakers are designed to withstand freezing temperatures, salt spray, heat, UV rays, humidity and water.
