Sony’s 2015 Bravia TV range, decked out with Google’s latest Lollipop 5.0 Android TV operating system, is set to land in the Australian market, with the range to begin arriving in stores from next week.Sony’s 2015 Bravia line-up, encompassing both 4K UHD and full-HD models, ranges in size from 43 to 75″.
A feature of the new line-up is its slimmed-down design, with the range including Sony thinnest LCD TV yet, the X9000C Series 4K UHD LCD TV, measuring in a 4.9 mm at its thinnest point, featuring a virtually frameless floating style, designed for flush wall-mounting.
The 4K UHD range also includes Sony’s hi-res audio TV models, the X9300C/X9400C, with the new range built with the new 4K Processor X1 chip, which Sony states “optimises clarity, colour accuracy and contrast”.
Sony states the X1 chip is built to handle an increasingly diversifying range of content, including current-generation HD content along with 4K content distributed in a number of video compression formats.
Sony’s full-HD W series, meanwhile, is equipped with the X-Reality PRO picture engine, designed to enhance picture quality and make visuals appear realistic on screen.
Across the 2015 range, Android TV provides for enhanced functionality and device interactivity, designed to make it easy to stream video and operate TVs as a gaming device, while providing additional features like Google Cast and Voice Search.
Google Cast enables users to cast content from mobile devices, while Voice Search is available through a remote equipped with a microphone, allowing users to browse via voice command.
