Sony, who is fast becoming the Company who markets yesterday’s technology, has now admitted that they will not have quad core technology in their mobile phones until mid 2013.Most major brands in the mobile phone market are already offering quad core technology this year including Motorola, Samsung as well as HTC with their One X, LG with their Optimus 4X HD and Huawei with their Ascend D Quad.
At the recent CES Show in Las Vegas the Company failed to deliver any new Smart TV technology and the Android tablets that they had on offer were no different than those offered by Samsung, Toshiba, Asus and Acer.
The excuse that Sony, who has just taken over the struggling Sony Ericcson mobile phone business, has given is that they are waiting for battery technology to catch up with the speed that Quod Core technology delivers.
Stephen Sneeden, Product Marketing Manager for Sony Mobile told CNet “We’re going to join quad-core when we feel that the performance matches the battery efficiency”.
Sneeden said that Sony is “evaluating the quad-core performance” and that it will enter the quad-core arena in 2013 once it believes it can offer a device “where you’re not suffering in quality and the performance truly is there”.
Both the Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5 will have Quad Core technology this year.
