Users of the new Sony digital SLR camera and its online community site have been rewarded with the chance to feature in the company’s official marketing campaign.
Each image selected to feature in the official exhibition was selected from Sony’s Online Gallery, where ‘everyday Australians’ can upload their images to compare and share with other alpha users. The winning photograph will feature in an upcoming campaign for the new Sony alpha A100 DLSR.
The photography exhibition, which is stationed at the Clock Hotel in Sydney’s Surry Hills was designed to showcase the work of ‘real’ (average-joe) photographers, as opposed to professional photographers. Since the new alpha DSLR is largely targeted at the home user market, it makes sense that the exhibition is all about showing off the photos the average consumer can take with the camera.
The winning photograph titled The Musician was taken by flower shop owner, Charles McKean of NSW.
“I took this photo while in Laos as I was astounded by the man’s serenity and the joy with which he played the instrument. I submitted it to the Gallery as I wanted to be a part of Sony’s online community of photographers and to compare my photo with other people’s shots. I am so excited to have been chosen out of so many quality entries. The opportunity to be exhibited publicly is fantastic.”
