The Android Gingerbread smartphone comes in a pint-sized form factor with a scratch-resistant, three inch screen that works with wet fingers. It’s also a built to withstand the elements with a water resistant body (withstanding three feet of water for up to a half hour).
The new Xperia was built with the active user in mind, donning in-built exercise software like an onscreen heart rate monitor in the uniquely Sony Ericsson take on the Android interface.
The weatherproof build and small form of the new Xperia follows in a similar design vein to the popular Motorola Defy which garnered much attention this year.
Under the hood sits a GPS, barometer and compass to work with all the Active-specific apps thrown in, while a five megapixel camera with HD video functionality sits on the outside.
