Its official, Sony Computer Entertainment has finally cracked a winner after running hard behind Microsoft with their Xbox 360 and Nintendo with their Wii in the gaming market.
After our story yesterday, which revealed that Sony has hit #1 in the US gaming market with their new Slim PS3 gaming console Sony Australia has announced that they have sold “in excess of 60,000” units and that they are now “ahead of their competitors” how long this will last is not known as all three competitors fight for market share running into Xmas.
This is despite the fact that the AU$499 PS3 Slim is significantly more expensive than the US model which is selling in Best Buy for $279.
Yesterday, Sony Australia announced that they will offer a free PS3 Slim to customers who buy a Bravia LCD TV. Sony has added that those who partake in the promotion will have guaranteed delivery by Christmas.
While Sony’s PS3 continues to remain in third place behind the Xbox 360 and Wii in overall sales down under.
