The US Masters where Tiger Woods will make his return to golf will be shot in 3D by Sony and will be available in Australia for anyone who has a 3D computer.
The event that takes place on April 5-11 at the US Augusta National course is set to be one of the biggest sporting events prior to the Soccer World Cup in South Africa.
In a statement issued overnight Sony has said that they are teaming up with US pay channel Comcast to deliver the event. As part of the deal Sony will shoot two hours 3D coverage every afternoon of the event, focusing on the back nine holes. The event will be presented free of charge to Comcast subscribers who have already purchased a 3D TV. The 3D feed will also be available at http://www.themasters.com for those with 3D-capable computers.
3D coverage rests outside of the 2D distribution rights held by CBS who will cover the main event which will be shown on Foxtel and the Nine Network in Australia.
