Sony To Hold PlayStation “State of Play” Livestream

After pulling out of E3 and cancelling its own conference, Sony is taking a move from Nintendo and will host a new “State of Play” stream on March 25 to announce new games, trailers, and updates for PS4 and PS VR.

Announced in a company blog post, these live-streams will continue throughout the year.

The first episode will reveal upcoming PS4 and PS VR software, including new trailers, game details and new gameplay footage.

Sony is clearly taking a leaf out of Nintendo’s book. It also doesn’t hold press conferences at E3, and instead makes its announcements via the Nintendo Direct streams.

Sony PlayStation claimed the reason they pulled out of E3 and the PlayStation Experience was due to lack of announcements and new game titles.

Likely, the company has no major hardware to reveal that would warrant the massive showcase that big events like E3 demand — so no news is expected for the PlayStation 5.

Sony kept tight-lipped regarding the announcement, made last Friday, its short post gave no reason for the change in strategy.

The stream will likely include updates from PS4 exclusives like The Last of US Part II and Ghost of Tsushima.

The State of Play will stream live on YouTubeTwitchTwitter and Facebook on March 25.
