Sony is set to launch a Google TV display screen which they are billing as the world’s first “Internet TV”.
The International launch is being held in New York on October 12th with an Australian launch tipped soon. Several other vendors including Samsung, LG and Logitech are set to launch a Google TV offering which incorporates an Android based operating system similar to what is found in an Android based Smartphone. The processor running the Google TV software is from Intel.
The Sony Internet TV which will go head to head with Telstra’s T Box, Fetch TV and Apple TV which goes on sale in Australia shortly for $129. 
Shown at the recent IFA show in Germany Google TV is an open technology that is being made available to a multitude of manufacturers who plan to build it into Blu ray players, set top boxes similar to the Logitech Revue which is due in Australia shortly.
Some observers claim that users are best buying a set top box or Blu ray player that has Google TV built in and can be played to an existing screen as opposed to a complete new TV.
