Sony Computer Entertainment Australia has unveiled plans for new movie streams and TV services for the PlayStation 3 in Australia in the run-up to Christmas.
As part of a renewed PS3 push, it also plans to introduce new models with added storage, as well as Sony’s Move motion controller, pictured, and new games including the hotly awaited Gran Turismo 5.
The new movie streaming service to be available to PS3 owners, along with others, before Christmas is Mubi. Already available in the US, UK and France, it offers arthouse, classic and foreign films – such as Fellini’s La Dolce Vita and Hitchcock’s Rear Window – said to have been “curated” by movie experts.
The Seven Network’s Plus7 “catch-up” TV service will join the ABC’s iView.
The Move controller will be available from September 16 at $69.99. From next year it will be able to be used with a new range of 3D games.
