Sony has confirmed that it will be bringing Android 5.1 Lollipop to a range of devices, starting from July.Sony will update a number of devices that have already received Android 5.0 to Android 5.1, and has additionally announced that it is set to extend its Lollipop rollout to other devices in its portfolio.
The Sony products in line for Android 5.1 are its premium Z series, encompassing the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1S, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.
Sony’s Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3 are also set to receive the update, also starting from July.
In response to requests to extend its Lollipop rollout, Sony has additionally advised that the Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Aqua will be updated directly to Android 5.1, stating the update will take place after it has made the update available for the Z series.
