Sony has unveiled a new PS4 console with a 1 TB hard drive, the PS4 Ultimate Player Edition, doubling the storage space of its current PS4.It had been speculated that Sony was set to unveil the 1 TB model in the lead-up to E3 2015 in Los Angeles last week, however with the annual video game trade show having come and gone for another year, Sony has now taken the wraps off the bulked-up console, making the announcement via its European blog.
Prior to E3, Microsoft had announced a 1 TB Xbox One, with Sony, as expected, now making the same move in offering a 1 TB PS4 variant, with Sony stating the Ultimate Player Edition will launch in select Europe and PAL territories from July 15.
“Offering twice the storage of the existing PS4, you’ll be able to download more of the games you love to your PS4, extend your play with more great add-on content and save and share even more of your best gaming highlights,” the Sony blog states of the new console.
Sony has not announced pricing, with the blog stating consumers can check with their local retailer for pricing information.
